Islamabad: On June 26, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa announced the establishment of a Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad.
The new authority, led by Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner, will have the Director General of Capital Emergency Services reporting directly to them. The DMA’s main objective is to manage unforeseen emergencies in the federal capital efficiently.
In addition, the DMA will be integrated with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to oversee all emergency service departments. Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the creation of the DMA would not affect the employment benefits or career progression for the employees in these departments.
